Cop behind 2007/8 PEV to be charged afresh

27 October 2014, 14:48

Nairobi - The Court of Appeal has ruled that a police officer who was acquitted of killing two people during the 2007/8 post election chaos be charged afresh.

The officer, Edward Kurui, was set free by Justice Fred Ochieng’ in 2010 after the court found out that there was no sufficient evidence linking him to the killing of two protesters at Kondele Market after the disputed polls, Daily Nation reports.

The ruling forced the then Attorney General Amos Wako to file an appeal, saying Kirui was only acquitted for the murder of one of the protesters.
