Construction of Kenya-Somalia border wall set to begin
23 March 2015, 10:31
Nairobi - Interior Cabinet Joseph Nkaissery has said the government plans to construct a wall along the Kenya-Somalia border, in its fight against terrorism.
According to the CS, the construction of the wall that is set to begin this week will reduce the porous border entries into Kenya, hence boosting the government’s efforts to contain terror attacks, The Standard reported.
However, Mandera Senator Billow Kerrow differed with Nkaissery over the plan, saying it is not a lasting solution to the problem.

Kerrow said it would be difficult and expensive for the government to construct and man the over 200km long wall, adding that the CS should come up with a permanent solution.
Suspected Al-Shabaab militants have crossed over to Kenya, through the border and carried out numerous attacks in the region and now the government is exploring all avenues to stop the terror attacks.
