Canada concerned by Mpeketioni attacks, urges action on perpetrators

Nairobi - Canada has condemned the terror attack on Mpeketoni town that has left over 60 people dead.
“Canada is appalled by the attack on innocent civilians in Mpeketoni, Kenya, which claimed the lives of at least 60 people and wounded many more," Foreign Affairs Minister, John Baird, stated Tuesday.
He extend his sympathies to the families and friends of the victims, on behalf of all Canadians, and to conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured.
He called for the prosecution of perpetrators.
“Canada calls on the Kenyan authorities to bring to justice those responsible for this senseless act of violence," Baird said.
He further issued a travel warning to citizens.
“The Government of Canada continues to advise Canadians to exercise a high degree of caution in Kenya, remain extremely vigilant in public places,” he said.
Al-Shabaab militants have claimed responsibility for the attacks.
