Molo - Brewers of illicit brew in Kasarani, Elburgon, violently attacked chief Ezekiel Karanja over crackdown on chang'aa leaving him with serious injuries.
The youths were blaming the chief for raids conducted by residents on the drinking dens, Daily Nation reports, leading to the destruction of hundreds of litres of chang’aa.
This comes even as the country is mourning the loss of over 100 lives to illicit brew. The poisonous brew had been imported from the neighbouring country of Tanzania and distributed by Comrades Investment Company. The Company has already been closed by the Health CS, James Macharia in a bid to save lives.
In addition, 52 government officials including the Nacada CEO have been suspended as crackdown on illigal brew continue countrywide.
