The alleged baron from Sao Paulo, who was arrested after being found in possession of 42 pills of heroin and cocaine, was detained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The arrest comes barely a month after the appointment of the new chairperson to the National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse, John Mututho, who pledged to up the fight against peddlers of illegal substances.
This followed reports many youths in the country had been victims of drugs abuse, a development that had caused many of them to drop out of school.
Alcohol and marijuana were listed among the most abused substances by the youth in the country.
The government has since established several rehabilitation centres at different places in the country to help rehabilitate the victims.
Nonetheless individuals shy away from such facilities due to the alleged cost of treatment and the stigma that comes with the facilities.
Recently, Kenya deported more than 20 foreigners believed to be key members of drug cartels operating in the country.
