Nairobi - The Star reports a cross-section of investors and employers have been cautioned over their objection to the 14 per cent minimum wage increment announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta during Labour Day celebrations.
The Central Organisation of Trade Unions, Kenya (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli said that the refusal to comply by investors and employers will be illegal adding that it will be met with “the full force of the law as well as the unspecified wrath of Kenyan workers.”
He further dismissed claims that the increment was done without the knowledge of the investors and employers stating that, “the claim that the government’s decision was not consultative is farfetched."
