Another suspect arrested over Mpeketoni attacks

18 June 2014, 15:13

Nairobi - Police have arrested the administrator of social media accounts purportedly used by Al Shabaab to claim responsibility for Mpeketoni attacks, IG David Kimaiyo has said.

The Inspector General made the announcement on his official twitter account where he also confirmed the suspension of Mpeketoni OCS, Aden Ali.

Kimaiyo posted, “OCS Aden Ali, Mpeketoni, dismissed with immediate effect & he'll be charged in court. More suspects including leaders are being interrogated.”

This comes a few hours after the arrest of the owner of driver of the owner of a vehicle used to ferry attackers to Mpeketoni Sunday night.

Over 50 people, mainly men, lost their lives in the attack, before the attackers launched another assault mission in the neighbouring Poromoko town where they killed around nine people.
