All set for the start of ICC trial

16 September 2013, 08:13

The Hague - The first witness to take stand at the International Criminal Court will only testify against Deputy President William Ruto and not his co-accused Joshua Sang.

The 37-year-old woman, who worked at a prominent politician’s home in the Rift Valley as a cook, will testify about the incidence where families were burnt to death at Kiambaa Church during the 2007/8 post election violence. She said she did not listen to Kass FM where Sang worked as a presenter at the time of violence and therefore would not testify against him, The Standard reports.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that four more prosecution witnesses against Ruto have pulled out of the case ahead of the start of the hearing that was adjourned after the prosection failed to call first witness.
