Al Shabaab threatens Kenya, US with holy war

Mogadishu — A senior member of Al Shabaab says his group will carry out more attacks in Kenya and then in the U.S.
Fuad Shongole said in a speech broadcast on the rebels' radio on Wednesday that al Shabaab fighters would carry out jihad, or holy war, in Kenya and Uganda "and afterward, with God's will, to America."
The U.S. Embassy in Kenya last week said it is upgrading security because of an increased threat of terrorism.
Kenyan forces moved into Somalia in 2011, raising the ire of al Shabab. Shongole said that if one Somali girl is killed by a Kenyan soldier, then Kenyan girls would also be killed.
Al Shabaab this week carried out an ambush in northeastern Kenya that killed nine people, including four police officers and three police reservists.
