Nairobi - Deputy president William Ruto says that the African continent is poorer with the death of Nelson Mandela.
Ruto said that the continent had lost a great person and a wonderful example to many with Mandela's death Thursday after months in and out of hospital.
" The world has lost a moral example of selfless leadership, a man of courage, principle and honour.
" The African Continent is poorer without Madiba. We are mourning a father to multiple generations of Africans. Madiba left a legacy of leadership and he was a shining example that we should all emulate, he said in a statement.
Ruto joined other Kenyan leaders including President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in eulogizing Mandela.
