Mombasa - Kenya has jailed nine Somali pirates for five years in jail each after they were found guilty of attempting to hijack a German cargo ship in 2009.
In his ruling on Tuesday, Mombasa Chief Magistrate Stephen Riech said that there was sufficient evidence to convict the suspects, Capital News reports.
The chief magistrate gave his ruling after listening to the evidence provided by 15 witnesses whom confirmed that the suspects had carried weapons at the high seas with the intention of terrorizing the crews.
