10 December 2015, 17:17

Nairobi - 54 Ethiopian nationals have been arrested for illegally being in the country.

Police arrested the 54 Wednesday night in Kasarani area for being in the country illegally.

Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome said Thursday that police were tipped off by members of the public of their whereabouts

“Thanks to members of the public, we were able to arrest those 54 illegal immigrants and they are now in custody,” Koome said.

“We are glad that they are going to face the full force of the law. When we have such people in the country; we urge the public to inform us so that we are able to effect arrest,” he enthused.

The owners of the three bedroomed house they were found in were also being sought.

Ethiopian aliens are common in the country as they use the country to transit to mostly Tanzania and South Africa.
