2 killed, 12 rescued from collapsed building in Huruma

05 January 2015, 08:19

Nairobi - At least two people were killed and 12 others rescued after a five-storied building collapsed in Nairobi's Huruma estate on Sunday night.

Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) and first aid charity, St. John Ambulance, which are coordinating the rescue operation, said so far 12 people have been rescued and an unknown number are feared trapped in the debris after three floors of the building caved in.

"At least 12 people have been rescued. Multi-agency search and rescue operations are ongoing," said St. John Ambulance spokesman Fred Majiwa.

KRCS said it has set up an information desk to help in the tracing recovery for cases of missing families and loved ones.
