15 top immigration officers fired over Westgate

Nairobi - The heat is on following the four day siege at Westgate Mall, and the first casualities are fifteen senior and mid-level immigration officers who were found to have issued illegal ID cards to foreigners.
In a statement to Daily Nation, Cabinet Secretary of Interior Ole Lenku said that the officers have been sent home following investigations which reveaaled they had endangered national security, and that plans are underway to charge them in accordance of the law.
Making the announcement to the media, Ole Lenku confirmed also that seventeen senior administration officers have been re-deployed to the Department Of Immigration to help streamline and reorganise the department to "avoid a recurrence of security lapses like we have seen in the past.
Security forces in the country have been on the spot, as a probe into how the terrorists that attacked Westgate, had gained entry into the country and been able to commit the heinous crime, considering that some of them had been on global terror watchlists.
