100 Al Shabaab militants ambush police in Wajir, injure three officers

Wajir - About 100 Al Shabaab militants raided Diff Police Station in Wajir on Sunday, where they injured three officers before fleeing in a police car that was parked at the station.

According to Standard, the gang raided the station at around 3am and then started shooting sporadically, injuring 3 out of the 18 officers who were present.

After exchanging fire for about 2 hours, the militants put their casualties in the police car and fled.

The Star adds that they torched six shops at the town which is located about 10 KM from the Kenya-Somali border before escaping.

A manhunt for the attackers has already been launched.
