Youths decry of being sidelined by the Nakuru county government

Nakuru - Section of youths from Nakuru town have faulted Kinuthia Mbugua administration for neglecting the them.
Speaking on Monday in Nakuru town, the chairman for Rise up youths Peter Mweti said that the county government has not been awarding any tenders to youths.

Mweti said that the 30 percent tender jobs meant for youths is being carried out by business people who are above 35 years of age.
“We have been completely neglected by our county government, the jobs intended for the youths is being given to older people,” he said.
Mweti said that the county has so many learned and qualified youths but they are not being given job opportunities as spelt out in the constitution.
He said that more youths are languishing in poverty while others have started indulging in drugs since they have not been employed.
“Our youths are learned and qualified but they are being frustrated by our county government because they have not being given jobs even they apply,” he said
The chairman said that some of the youths who have been seek for tender jobs are being demanded to give kickbacks by senior county officials in order to be awarded tenders.
Mweti said that if the county government does not consider youths for job opportunities they will not support Mbugua reelection bid in 2017 general elections.
He said that is high time the county government empowered the youths through job creation.
