Youth injured in accident as they head to Nairobi for Pope Address

Nyeri - A group of youths from Othaya in Nyeri were on Friday morning seriously injured after they were involved in a road accident on their way to Kasarani stadium for Pope Francis' address.
The youths were in a Nissan matatu in Karima area when the vehicle lost control while negotiating a corner and overturned at 4am, near Karima Boys High School.
At the time of the incident, 14 youths were aboard the matatu.

They were forced to cut short their journey to Nairobi and missed the blessings of the Holy Father as they were rushed to Othaya District Hospital for treatment.
Othaya Police boss, Joseph Mwika said 11 of them sustained minor injuries and have already been treated and discharged.
“Three others including the driver are still in serious condition,” said Mwika.
The wreckage of the Nissan matatu was towed to Othaya Police Station, with Mwika stating that traffic police were investigating cause of the accident.
