Youth Fund Board dissolved over corruption

Nairobi - The Public Service, Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary, Sicily Kariuki has dismissed Youth Fund board over graft.
Kariuki said her Ministry would recover KES 180 million looted by the board members.
Speaking in Othaya Catholic Hall, Nyeri, Kariuki said the board has already been suspended from transacting any business until investigations by EACC and CID are completed.
“It is true money was lost in the Ministry but it is subject to investigations by Parliament and government agencies. I can assure you that individuals implicated involved will be apprehended,” said Kariuki.

She stated that the Asset Recovery Agency is tracing any properties obtained corruptly by the board members.
“I found this mess in the Ministry. Am working to strengthen governance framework in the public fund to avoid such occurrence in future,” she said.
Kariuki had toured Nyeri to distribute KES 25 million to women groups in the County.
The money was from Women Enterprise Fund which she said has disbursed KES 7.51 billion to 59,824 groups in the country.
Nyeri has received KES322.5 million which has been disbursed to 2,866 groups comprising 37,076 members.
