Nairobi - Women have vowed to vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta come the 2017 elections, a lobby group has said.
The young women's lobby group, named 'Warembo na Uhuruto's mission is to carry out
civic education and inspire young ladies to participate in politics.
The lobby group aims to breaks barriers set by patriarchal norms, electoral system structures and male-dominated political cultures," the group says.
Founder and chairperson Wambui Nyutu says that most young women neither vote nor engage in politics.
" We have so many women who shun politics. This must change especially for young ladies who have a future in this country," she told News24.
Nyutu said the group will encourage more women to voice their concerns and opinions regarding the country's leadership.
The group says that the current presidency has encouraged the growth of women in the country and should be voted back into office come 2017.
