Murang'a - Murang’a Women Representative, Sabina Chege has called for tougher punishment, including death sentence or castration of rapists.
Chege, who is also the chairperson for Parliamentary Education Committee, said the number of teenage girls being defiled was on the rise and that deterrent action should be taken against offenders.
She said she is considering tabling a motion in Parliament that would make defilement a capital offence and whose penalty is death or castration for those found guilty.

“Cases of men defiling girls as young as three years old are on the rise and these beastly acts must stop. The law should not be lenient on the culprits. I propose that they be sentenced to death or castrated,” said Chege.
The politician was speaking in Kandara constituency, Murang’a County, after distributing water tanks to primary schools.
She also expressed concern over cases of teenage pregnancies and underage marriages.
