Woman stabbed to death on way home, assailant nabbed

Nairobi - A 57-year-old woman has been stabbed to death by two young men at Mutahiga Estate, Nanyuki town.
The woman identified as Hadija Wanjira was on her way home on Friday evening when the incident happened.
She is said to have been going home from Nanyuki town using a short-cut road that connects the estate and the town through a foot bridge on Nanyuki River when he met the two men.
According to an eye witness the two confronted her and in the scuffle one produced a knife and stabbed her severally on the chest.
She started screaming alerting residents who were around and as the two men tried to escape one was arrested and the knife used recovered from his pockets.
The woman walked on her knees for about a hundred meters towards her house before she collapsed and died.
Neighbours and friends who were trying to come to terms with the turn of events flocked the home to console with the family.
The arrested man was assaulted by residents before being rescued by police officers while his accomplice managed to escape.
He is said to be a teenage and a Form Three drop out who was wearing two pairs of clothes including his uniform.
According to neighbors the road that leads to the estate is bushy and has been used by thugs as their hiding ground.
An adjacent unoccupied building is also said to harbor criminals with residents complaining that there are rare police patrols in the region.
The body was removed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
