Narok - A middle-aged woman who allegedly ridiculed her neighbour about her presumed HIV/AIDs status was arraigned before a Narok Court charged with offensive conduct.
Grace Wanjiku Ndung'u appeared before Narok Chief Magistrate Wilbroda Juma and charged that on December 7 in Upper Majengo area in Narok town, she insulted the complainant (name withheld) by telling her in swahili, ‘Enda upone Ukimwi ndio ukuje uongee na mimi,’ which when loosely translated means ‘go get healed of your HIV/AIDs status before you can come and talk to me.’
The prosecution claimed that these words were meant to demean the complainant among right thinking Kenyans and cause a breach of peace.
The accused denied the charges and was released on a bond of KES 40 000 with one surety of similar amount or a cash bail of KES 30 000.
The case will be heard on March 16, 2016.
