Nairobi - A woman has been arrested and charged for staling a twin baby at the Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.
Faith Karimi was arrested while attempting to exit the hospital after stealing a 10 day old baby from the Hospital on Saturday.
The baby boy belongs to an Anne Kamoto and was rescued after alarm was raised that the baby was missing.
Karimi denied the accusations before Nairobi Principal Magistrate Jane Kamau.
Kamiti committed the offence having been admitted at the KNH alongside Kamoto and pounced after the mother of two left to breastfeed the other baby who had been kept in a different ward.
On her return, Kamoto raised alarm and Karimi was arrested by hospital security.
Police were alerted of the situation and arrested Karimi.
" We were alerted of a situation where a woman had attempted to steal a baby. She was taken into custody and arraigned in court with baby theft charges," Nairobi Police boss Japheth Koome said.
The case will be mentioned March 1, 2016.
