Nairobi - When James Wanjiku decided to move out of his home County Murang'a and go to Nairobi seven years ago, nothing much was in his mind other than the usual desire to secure a job and lead a happy life.
Mr. Wanjiku, who was still a young man full of aspirations and ambition, had a feeling that he could get opportunities in the city and beat poverty that surrounded him.
This came to pass this week when he was announced a first jackpot winner of Elitebet Kenya, an online and SMS betting brand of Oxygen8 Gaming.
Wanjiku, a 27-year-old bachelor who has been vending clothes at Gikomba market to make ends meet is now KES 6,047,000 richer thanks to the competition.

He said that he will get a financial advisor to help him plan for the money and enable him to expand his businesses.
Wanjiku said he has been betting for fun and never did he imagine that he could be a winner of such a huge amount of money.
He urged other gamblers to bet responsibly.
"Play it for fun and bet responsibly. Don't bet a huge amount that you are unable to raise," he said Friday during cheque presentation at a Nairobi hotel.
