Why Uhuru did not attend Devolution conference
22 April 2016, 21:40
Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to attend the Devolution Conference in Meru. But why?
The President had been invited by the Council of Governors to take part in the closing ceremony for the conference which ended Friday but refused to attend.
According to sources, the President is unhappy with the corruption taking place at County level and wants more done by Governors to curb it.
He says though that they are not.
" The President has been clear. The corruption is too much and needs to be curbed. That is the main problem for him," the source told News24.
The President is also unhappy with the negative manner in which counties took the medical supplies deal floated by the government to help spread technical medical help needed by the masses to grass-root level.
The President was represented in Meru by Devolution CS Mwangi Kiunjuri.
CORD leader Raila Odinga closed the conference Friday.
