Why Uhuru appointed former ODM chief Bett

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed Franklin Bett to the Agriculture Finance Corporation AFC. But why?
Simple. To appease the people of Kericho.
Bett is from Kericho and had also put his hat in the running for the recent Kericho Senate by election where he lost out in the nomination process.
The former opposition ODM chief and close ally to party leader Raila Odinga is seen as the perfect person to calm tensions down in the region which has been crying foul in recent times.
Deputy President William Ruto, while campaigning in the region was told openly by the people that the Jubilee Coalition had let Kericho down since it came into power, forcing Ruto to apologize.
In the election, the opposition garnered 50,000 votes, which was seen as a sign by the people that they are ready to move on from Jubilee.
Uhuru though, has other ideas.
Bett is a well respected figure in the region and the President hopes that it will help calm things down.
" It was an obvious decision to get Bett in to help appease the people of Kericho," a State House source told News24.
The President and the DP are also set to visit the region in the coming weeks to help in the healing process.
