Why Sossion snubbed Uhuru's State House meeting
11 November 2015, 14:43
Nairobi - KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion missed a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta. But why?
Sossion was among teachers unions leaders who were invited to State House Tuesday to hold talks over the ongoing impasse over teachers pay.
He did not however show up.
KNUT Chairman Mudzo Nzili however did and it was thus an uncomfortable day at State House as Sossion's obvious absence was glaring.
He did not however hide the reason why he was unavailable.
" I was not invited for the meeting and so I did not show up," he told News24.
Nzili though, had a differing opinion.
" We were invited both at the same time and he chose not to come," he explained.
The meeting was meant to thrash out a deal between teachers and the government to end the current impasse between the government and teachers.
Teachers are yet to be paid their September salaries which they were denied by the Teachers Service Commision TSC following a 5 week strike which saw them miss large parts of the current school term.
