Why I say men are clowns
18 July 2016, 16:04
Nairobi - See, most of the time I refer to most men
as clowns. Someone will thin k, ‘Oh…She is a man-hater…’ ‘She is bitter…’
But I am not, I just think of men as
clowns. Normally, I go in with my eyes wide open and I have learnt not to have
too many expectations where they are concerned. It becomes a win-win situation-
in my opinion.
Some will disagree but when you have come
across a couple of Mr. Wrongs while being that wide-eyed girl, it gets you some
perspective. Trust me!
So I am talking to this married lady-
married for a while not two years but more than twenty. She and her husband
have not been in good terms for a while. It reached a point where the guy
stopped eating so that ….. Get this, the wife should coddle him so that he can
forgive her and he will get back to eat. He was eating sparingly to the extent
that he is visibly losing weight.
To get to her incredulous, jaw dropping (in
my opinion) story she was narrating how she is trying to get to better terms
with him because the pastor told her that it is not good to live like that.
When it comes to Jesus and prayer I tend to pick what makes sense to me. I did
not agree with the pastor because the man was the one that had gone and gotten
himself another wife-secretly and…unapologetically. He has not apologised for
that by the way.
Now she was telling me in Swahili, ‘We are
talking now but I am looking for a way to ‘bembeleza’
him to eat.’
You should have seen my face after that
one. ‘You mean the man does not know he should eat? Or you mean that after you
cook, you are meant to sit on his lap and spoon feed him?’ Eeeeeh, you know it
is worse when you do not cook or put the food on the table. But when you do and
it is there obviously, what more does that man want? Maybe this is why I do not
have wife-material skills. I do not have time for this shenanigans unless out
of my very kinky heart I decide I want to play some funny games. But beg a man
to eat? Laughable.
And people wonder why I am not trying to
get married. When you hear some women’s stories and how they are living with
their so- called husbands, you will vomit in your mouth.
That idea about partnership is something
that goes out of the window the minute you get are hitched hook, line and
sinker (read pregnant-no better way to be permanent than being pregnant). You
start experiencing the realities of having another grown baby in your house.
One of the many reasons I refer to men as
clowns. The minute you start dating some of these people; you are officially in
a circus. This is why some women are becoming literally murderous. They have
reached the end of their tether!
