Why did Ababu dump the Third Force movement?

24 September 2016, 16:24 Victor Tinto

Nairobi -Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba will support CORD leader Raila Odinga come the 2017 elections, an MP has said.

Ababu, who has recently joined the Labour Party of Kenya, has hinted that he is ready to work with Raila come the 2017 polls and his recent moves suggest he will head in that direction.

According to Funyula MP Paul Otuoma, the MP will support CORD.

" Ababu is a part of CORD. He has always been and I know that he will support Raila come 2017," he told News24.

Moles within Ababu's camp told News24 that the MP quit his Third Force movement after it failed to get the required support in western Kenya.

" The Third Force failed in western Kenya, where even though the idea was right, it did not count because Luhyas do not want a project that is starting less than a year to the elections. They would rather stick with the current status quo," the source told News24.

According to ODM chairman John Mbadi, the Third Force was an idea that died a natural death.

" The Third Force movement died before inception. It was an unplanned development, thus why it failed. Ababu should have consulted way earlier and looked for the best way forward," he stated.

Ababu has already said that he will seek re-election for his seat using the LPK, but supporting Raila will help him have a chance of retaining his seat.

" As long as he supports Raila he will have a chance of retaining his seat. If not, then I foresee trouble," Julius Walela, a political analyst from the region told News24.
