What do you do when you find out your husband plays for the other team-his team?

08 June 2016, 15:01 Shakila Alivitsa

Nairobi - I follow Nigerian wedding blog on Facebook and one of the posts I saw today was about an openly gay man Kenny  Badmus talking about  how he led an innocent woman who was clueless to the altar for marriage. She is now an ex.

I never talk about gay issues because we are in Africa and it is not about what I think but we all know that before Africa ever accepts such relationships, I will be dead. It will take millenniums. Africa, Kenya for that matter is diehard about the things they accept and entertain. They know about it, some do it but you better not be caught in public. They also watch it in Western movies, but they close their eyes or fast forward.

I do not want to talk about gay relationships.

I want to talk to women.

I felt so offended for that woman.  She is not the first either. Women are being used badly out here. Is it that we do not know ourselves or what is it?

How do you just date someone, see how invested she is in that relationship and take her for a ride the whole time? That is cruel. What you do with your personal life is your problem but just don’t bring someone else into it.

Be careful as a woman because being used like that creates a deep lack of self-worth and you do not appreciate yourself after such. Be careful.

I do not have hate in my heart but I have hate for people who use people like that.

As a woman, while seeing someone, look out for everything and anything. We also know that in Kenya there is nothing like a rumor; if you hear it, it is true. Investigate. And be smart enough to walk away from something is not serving you as it should. Don’t be used. That person will walk away talking about how they found themselves but they forget about you. They forget the damage they do to you. They think it is alright because they are living their truth.

Take care of you is my message. Everybody else comes after. You will have nothing to give if you are not alright. Watch these men because the games are getting broader and sneakier. Let that relationship end at dating if you are feeling it is off. Many men are out here; just because you lose one does not mean your world is ending. You will be alright.
