Nyeri - A group of well-wishers who wanted to donate goods and gifts to patients and newborns at Nyeri County Referral Hospital were barred by the hospital’s administration.
The group named Friends of Cocorico and Fahari had bought pampers and food stuffs expecting to surprise their hosts with gifts for festive season but the hospital administration dismissed them saying the visit was political.
They however proceeded to Thunguma Children’s home where they donated the goods and food stuffs which were worth thousands of shillings.
“We believe that this was service to humanity which is service to God. Somebody should not politicize our work since babies are gift from God especially this time of Christmas season; There was nothing wrong with giving,” said the group chair, Kinyanjui.
He also urged other well-wishers to remember vulnerable children and the elderly in this festive season.
