Nairobi - Othaya MP Mary Wambui was Saturday ignored by all speakers during the final funeral rites of Mama Lucy Kibaki at Othaya Approved Grounds.
Notwithstanding that she is the constituency representative in parliament, nobody recognized her presence including being denied opportunity to address the gathering.
Wambui, who arrived in the tow of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s convoy at the venue, was not even allowed to get near former President Mwai Kibaki in the dais.
Her daughter Winnie Wangui was also present and sat in the VIP section of the dais.
Earlier, there were rumours in town that she had been given strict instructions not to attend the funeral service.
It was not clear whether Wambui entered the burial venue at Kibaki’s home in Kanyange village, since the media was not allowed in as it was said to be a private exercise for family members alone.
