Isiolo - Residents of Ngaremara Ward in Isiolo County have feasted on a buffalo that killed a 43-year-old woman and injured another.
The woman was mauled to death at Shambani area by the stray animal which also attacked an elderly woman who was hospitalized at the County Hospital with injuries.
The animal had strayed from the nearby Buffalo Springs Game Reserve before pouncing on the two women, fatally killing one on the spot.
The two women were walking on foot to Ariemet dispensary when the hostile buffalo spotted them and immediately charged at them.
Angry residents then surrounded the animal while armed with spears and machetes, killed it and then feasted on its meat.

County Commissioner George Natembeya said the buffalo had strayed into the farms in search of water when it came face to face with the two women.
He said the irate villagers killed the animal while rescuing the victims before Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers arrived and allowed them to take the meat away.
Natembeya cautioned residents neighbouring the conservancies to be on the lookout for stray wild animals.
He further called on KWS officers to ensure that wild animals do not stray into the residents’ farms to prevent similar incidents in future.
