Nyeri - Mt Kenya leaders have resolved to destroy vehicles found ferrying illicit brew within the region.
They pledged to use the tactic used to fight drug barons.
Central Kenya Parliamentary Caucus Chairman, Dennis Waweru said the decision was taken following reports that illicit brews kill over 30 000 people in the region annually.
Waweru said 115 manufacturers of the liquor are at risk of having their licences revoked.
“We have put all manufacturers, distributors and retailers of the killer brews on notice. A productive population of 30 000 deaths being reported annually gravely affects the social, political and economic development of the region,” Waweru said.

The leaders lauded the national government for introducing administrative measures and relevant laws to address the illicit brews menace.
He made the remarks at Outspan Hotel in Nyeri during a meeting with regional politicians.
They lamented that the Judiciary appears to have fallen prey to the evil designs of the killer brews.
“We have said enough is enough and agreed to change tact in the war against illicit brew by introducing laws within the hard-hit counties that will benefit from forceful implementation backed by the national law,” said Nyeri Senator, Mutahi Kagwe.
