more, eat out less
Older generation couple did not have such a
big problem with this because the Nairobi food scene was not as evolved as it
is today offering so many options. They never even had delivery. These days, if
you get home and you do not feel like washing any utensils, you just order a
pizza or even better, home cooked meal that is cooked in a restaurant and it is
delivered to your doorstep.
Problem is, by the time you notice you are
doing too much of take-away, you only have your fare left and no extra money.
You ate well in the beginning of the month now you have to scrimp to get by. As
a couple, it will eventually hurt you if you keep getting used to that.
get into the brand façade
They look nice but if you are a young
couple just starting out, you should stay away from that until you are well
settled in. Don’t splurge your savings when you initially move in together on
getting brand items.
Even though most couples don’t like telling
the other about their money, you both need to have a budget of your expenses. A
budget helps in the management of funds. Agree on contributions and how each
amount should go into food, bills and emergency funds.
taking too many vacations to expensive places
Wanting to go to Dubai is not a bad thing,
unless you are earning 100k (let’s assume) and you want to make it an every
month mission. You will be broke for life.
