Nairobi - University of Nairobi Students want union leader Babu Owino gone.
The students chanted against the long time University students union leader at the main campus in Nairobi Wednesday evening.
This followed reports that Owino was intimidating those campaigning against him in the upcoming elections to the extent of beating them.
Police from the nearby Central Police Station took guard to protect motorists using the nearby University Way as well as Waiyaki Way from the students in case they took to violence.
" Babu must go!, Babu must go!," they chanted.
Central Police boss Paul Wanjama stated that Police were on watch.
" We are on watch in case of anything," he stated.
The upcoming elections will be a serious test to Owino and his leadership in the wake of sought after reforms at the union and the thought of change by students.
