University election a shame to the country.

Nairobi - The oldest and arguably one of the most prestigious institutions in this side of Sahara has been closed and at least two hundred students suspended. Reason, protest and destruction of property.
The students protested the election outcome of their students union -Sonu. The incumbent Mr. Babu Owino had won.
Currently most of them are back helping their mothers in the villages as they wait for the communication from the institution.
Just recently Chuka University was closed after the same fate befell them. Towards the end of last year Maseno University administration block was burned by students protesting the election outcome. This seems to be trend all over the country.
The big question is do the university election do more harm than good to the institution f higher learning than good? It's a big shame the creme de la creme of our society academic sphere being reduced to some sought of village busaa den attendants.
When they strike you cannot differentiate them from those illiterate hooligans throwing all sought of missiles after AFC Leopards match.
Its time strict rules are introduced to tame these elections before the little confidence remaining on this institutions is eroded. But as at now they are doing more harm than good to the institutions.
Imagine that young village boy or girl who is the only family's ope being forced to go back his/ her rural village because some individuals were fighting over who should lead students union.
