Uhuru's 15 month plan to win 2017 elections

20 April 2016, 18:40 William Korir

Nairobi - The President has come up with a plan to ensure that he returns to office in the aftermath of the 2017 polls.

In a move to sell his working success to Kenyans, the President has stressed that the cabinet ensure all projects that have been drawn up by the Jubilee Coalition be ready by June 2017.

This includes Jubilee's flagship project the Standard Gauge Railway.

It is expected to be complete in June 2017.

“The President was very clear that no new projects will be started within the next financial year, with the focus remaining on completion of projects and programmes already underway,” Spokesman Manoah Esipisu told News24.

The President has also divided the cabinet into 5 major committees to ensure all projects are completed.

He has told cabinet members that they have to be at the top of their game if Kenyans are to buy the Jubilee agenda come 2017.

The 5 committees include security, whose chairman will be President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Productive and infrastructure sectors will be chaired by Tourism CS Najib Balala and Agricultural transformation and environment protection by Agriculture CS Willy Bett.

Human Capital Development will be headed by Education CS Fred Matiang’i while the Governance and Public Administration cluster will be chaired by AG Githu Muigai.

It was also agreed that the cabinet will be meeting twice a month to review progress as the run up to the 2017 polls begins.

" The President is clear. He can only sell Jubilee if he can show completed projects and there thus has to be something done about it," a source that attended the retreat stated.
