Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta is welcome in Kakamega County, the region's leaders have said.
Uhuru will travel to western Kenya this weekend and will be in Kakamega as one of the Counties he will visit to open a number of projects and hold talks with local leaders.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has said that he is happy to have the President come through and that he and the people of Kakamega will welcome him with open hands.
" We are happy to have him arrive here and are looking forward to his visit and what it means for the people of the region," Oparanya told News24 on phone.
It is not yet clear whether Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale will be in the vicinity during the visit but what is clear is that he has in the past not shied away from meeting Uhuru as was the case when the President visited Mumias.
" The President is a national leader and is vital for the growth of the nation and he is welcome in western Kenya," he stated last time out.
Uhuru will hold talks with leaders from the region at the Kakamega State lodge as well as hold a small rally to adress the public.
