Nairobi - Cord Principal, Raila Odinga said continual corruption in government, soaring cost of living and heavy government borrowing amid increased taxes is proof that the Jubilee government is unable to run the country.
“They want to silence those against graft but I still maintain that I cannot be intimidated by arrests. I am a whistle blower and cannot be a thief. The culprits should be arrested, taken to court and money recovered. Jubilee is unable to govern our country,” Raila said in Matunda Kakamega County during the launch of Papa Dennis album on Wednesday.
He challenged youths to be the force behind change and asked them to acquire identity cards and register as voters en masse.
The ODM party leader who was accompanied by nominated Senator Daisy Kanainza and MP Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) also accused the government of reneging on their promises of tackling unemployment and youth empowerment saying the so called NYS youth project has reduced the young people to menial labourers used to open drainage systems.

“Youths in Kenya have abilities to change the course of this country. 72 per cent of Kenyans are youth aged below 35 years. We have a youth barrage and have to ensure we reap the youth dividend but we can only benefit from their capabilities if we empower them,” said Raila, adding that increased crime and instability in the Kenya is due to government’s neglect of youth.
“Jubilee promised that they will reduce youth employment; have jobs been found? They said they will give our children laptops; have you seen any laptop? They said youth will be awarded government tenders; hove you been given the tenders?” Raila asked the crowd.
Raila explained that if given opportunities and empowered, youth in this country can be the module force for social economic transformation.
“This is what we want to do as CORD and ODM. Those other people have given our youths to opening drainage, building latrines in Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Mathare and Nyalenda Kisumu for billions of money. They doctored figures to suit their looting from public coffers. The youths can,” said Raila.
He maintained that the government cannot account for KES 145 billion from the Eurobond saying Kenyans needs to know the projects funded by the bond.
Kanainza explained that opposition leaders should not be threatened and harassed as they are exercising their rights as Kenyans.
“We are also taxpayers and our responsibility is to counter check government’s expenditure. We want to know exactly what the money that our generation and generations to come will pay was used for. We want to know projects that were funded by bond. Is this too much to ask?” posed Kanainza.
He asked EACC to use state investigating machinery as they did with NYS scandal saying Raila Odinga is neither an investigator nor a government employee.
