Uhuru, Ruto in secret Mudavadi talks
03 March 2016, 13:56
Nairobi - The Jubilee Coalition has earmarked opposition leader Musalia Mudavadi to help them to victory in the 2017 polls.
The ruling coalition sees Mudavadi as the deal breaker for the western Kenya region and has reached out to him in the hope of sealing a deal to get him on board in time for the upcoming polls.
They believe that if he can bring in the close to 700,000 votes he can earn from the western region, then Jubilee will easily stroll to victory in the polls.
" Mudavadi is the key to the elections in 2017. If he is on board, then Jubilee will get the win," a Jubilee strategist that did not want to be named told News24.
DP William Ruto is said to have been holding talks with persons close to the ANC leader over his role in the upcoming polls.
He has on a number of occasions invited the Luhya leaders in Kakamega to his home in a bid to convince them to back Jubilee.
The Amani National Congress ANC leader however, needs some convincing.

In the run up to the 2013 polls, Mudavadi and President Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed a deal on a power sharing agreement which was dumped by the President's side at the last minute.
Mudavadi has not got over that fact to this day.
" It will be difficult to convince Mudavadi because of last time but in politics, anything is possible," Michael Njenga a political scientist told News24.
Mudavadi is said to have already secured two choppers to help him campaign for the 2017 polls.
