Uhuru fires underperforming Kenya Ferry bosses

Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed the sacking of Kenya Ferry Services bosses for continued failure to provide quality services to Kenyans.
Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia directed Wednesday evening that Managing Director Hassan Musa be sent home on recommendations of the President.
Also sent home are Chief Engineer George Nyadero and Operations Manager Anthony Muzungu.
This follows a visit to the Ferry services and headquarters by the President on Monday where he experienced first hand the problems faced by Kenyans using the Likoni Ferry Channel on a daily basis.
He was said to have been unhappy at the services offered and queried why the parastatal was struggling despite the lack of pressure to create their own income unlike other parastatals.
" The changes will take effect immediately," Macharia told News24.
The Likoni channel has been hit by a number of delays in the last two years thanks to over congestion and lack of functioning ferries.
The channel is especially important as it is a vital link for tourism and plenty of businesses seeking to join in mainland and on the island.
