Nairobi - President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have revealed the name of their new party as they look ahead to the 2017 General Elections.
The new party will be named the Jubilee Party with its slogan being 'Tuko Pamoja' to mean we are together in English.
The name of the new party has been settled on after wide consultations as well as serious compromise on several positions that had been taken by the former Jubilee Coalition members.
The slogan is a representation of the unity forged between the two principals.
" This is a new dawn and we are proud to be at the forefront of it," the two leaders stated at State House Nairobi where they met Jubilee leaders as well as delegates.
The President also insisted that he would back Ruto for the 2022 General Elections.
" That has been discussed and will be the way forward," he added.
TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja was happy with the progress made.
" We now have everyone on board including Governors, Senators, MPs and MCA. The aim here is to create something national and I believe we are on the right path," he stated.
He added that consultations will also continue to be able to bring on board the smaller parties that have been very skeptical about the new merger.
" We need everyone to feel at home and we will ensure that is the case," he added.
