TSC have no plans to pay teachers September salaries

Nairobi - The Teachers Service Commision TSC says that it has still no plans to pay teachers their September salaries.
The TSC said Thursday that the move to pay teachers their salaries as has been asked by President Uhuru Kenyatta was in their thinking but that at present the move would be far fetched.
TSC chair Lydia Nzomo said that the salaries would be discussed but that at the moment it was not anywhere close to fruition.
" We are consulting but at the moment it is not yet close," she said.
" There are lots needed to be put in place and in consideration and as we speak, we are not yet at that point," she added.
President Kenyatta told the TSC last week to consider paying teachers their September salaries, this is after he held talks with the teachers unions at State House Nairobi.
The TSC has been reluctant to pay teachers after they went on strike all of September and did not attend class.
Only 43,000 of the 288,000 teachers were paid salaries by the TSC.
Teachers went on strike to protest the lack of government implementation of a 50/60% payrise, which was later shot down by the Industrial Court.
