Isiolo - Three people are undergoing treatment at the Isiolo County Referral Hospital following cholera outbreak in the area.
The patients, two children and an adult, from Game and Kambi ya Juu villages have tested positive of the disease, doctors said.
The Medical Superintendent, Dr. Stephen Kiluva confirmed that the three patients were under treatment and described their condition as stable.
He said the patients, all male, have been placed in isolated ward and given the rightful cholera treatment to prevent further contact.
He said the patients were admitted in the health facility with symptoms of cholera on Tuesday.
“We conducted a rapid test which confirmed they were positive of the disease,” he added.
He revealed that public health officers were on the ground distributing water purifiers and purification tablets for treating water and sensitizing the villagers on how to prevent contracting the disease.
He said that water from Isiolo River should be assessed since all patients of recent cases of water related diseases claimed to have consumed its water.
Kiluva further called on residents to be alert and report any cases to the hospital in time when they notice cholera symptoms.
