Nairobi - Misery has absorbed residents of Rwambiti village in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, after an 18-year-old man killed his 40-year-old brother-in-law over a KES.300 phone memory card.
The deceased’s wife, Nancy Wambui, said her teen brother asked her for her cell phone to make a call, but returned it shortly after without a memory card.
On being asked, his brother denied taking the phone’s memory card and an argument ensued.
Nancy reportedly called her husband to intervene and later the young man stabbed him two times in the chest and stomach with a Somali sword.
“My brother stole the memory card but when my husband went to ask for it my brother came out of the house with a sword and stabbed him,” she said.
Nancy said the deceased was rushed to Kerugoya Referral Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries while the suspect reportedly surrendered to the Kirinyaga Police Station.
