Teachers to appeal pay ruling at Supreme Court
06 November 2015, 16:06
Nairobi - Teachers will appeal a ruling by the Court of Appeal which has torn apart the 50/60% payrise at the Supreme Court.
The Appeal's Court did away with the 50/60% increase Friday after it stated that the increase was null and void.
The reasoning behind the tearing down of the increase was the fact that the Salaries and Remuneration Commision SRC was not involved in the decision making process.
But teachers have now said that they will appeal the decision.
" We will appeal at the Supreme Court," Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion said outside the Appeals Court chambers in Nairobi.
The Supreme Court had earlier in the year ruled in favour of teachers who had been taken to the Court by the Teachers Service Commision TSC who were against the decision.
