Nairobi - Police in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, have arrested a suspected livestock thief with 50 animals believed to have been stolen from a local farmer at Sweet Waters location.
Seven of his accomplices however escaped during the incident, with police saying they have launched their manhunt.
The suspect was intercepted along Nanyuki-Rumuruti road with 50 goats and two cows allegedly stolen at night from George Ngatia, a farmer, at Burugutia village.
Ngatia said that he heard some movements outside his house and despite raising alarm the animals were stolen.
He later informed police who kicked off search and followed the animals and recovered them 30 kilometers away.
Livestock theft has been rampant in the location since only barely a week ago ten sheep had been stolen in the neighboring Ngando village and later recovered at Segera area, more than 50 kilometers away
