Suspected cattle rustler gunned down, rifle and 60 goats recovered

Isiolo - Anti-stock theft police officers have gunned down a suspected cattle rustler at Barut area, Isiolo County during a livestock recovery mission.
Area District Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO), Peter Ndubi said the suspect was in a gang of 12 suspected cattle rustlers who raided one homestead at Leparua village and stole 60 goats and one calf.
He said a contingent of police officers in collaboration with police reservists working at Northern Rangeland Trust pursed the rustlers and engaged them in a gun battle.
One police reservist was injured during the shoot-out and was rushed to a private hospital in Nanyuki town for treatment.
However, police managed to recover the livestock and an AK 47 rifle with nine rounds of ammunition in the incident.
