Mourners, during the funeral service of the mason, were shocked after his suicide note was read out to them.

“Please vote for Hon Aaron Cheruiyot as the next Kericho Senator. Do not vote for the other older politicians who have been there and done nothing...,”  read the note in part, according to a man who attended the burial.

Paul Sang, a flag-bearer of Independence party Kanu is Cheruiyot’s major challenger in the by-election. The former Health Minister has the backing of Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto who is also the leader of Mashinani Development of Kenya (MDPK).
